Talc Free Foot Powder for Sweaty Feet
All those winter socks can really make your feet sweat! Use Cypress Essential Oil in your foot powder for sweaty feet. Others great Essential Oils include Peppermint, Tea Trea, Eucalyptus and Lavender. (Is there anything Lavender is not good for?) And, this powder is not just for feet, it's an awesome overall body powder.
Over the years, there has been so much controversy over whether talc causes cancer, I avoid it on general principle. :) I use Arrowroot powder and Kaolin clay for their moisture repelling qualities and silky feel. Kaolin is helpful with sensitive skin as well. I make small batches but it's easy to make bigger batches.
1 cup Arrowroot Powder
4 tablespoons Kaolin Clay
6 drops Peppermint Essential Oil
6 drops Tea Tree Essential Oil
4 drops Cypress Essential Oil
Mix the powder and the clay, drop in the essential oils a bit at a time and shake well to incorporate the Essential Oils. Omit the Essential Oils for a scent free foot powder.
Don't have Arrowroot Powder or Kaolin Clay on hand? I think baking soda is a little on the gritty side but it certainly controls odor. If you don't care about GMOs corn starch may be a good option for you, add a bit of baking powder for a silkier feel.
Low cost container options:
Chances are you have something in your cupboard you can re-purpose to a foot powder shaker. A plastic or glass container with a lid is most common, like a jelly or peanut butter jar or a mason jar. You can make holes in the lid with a hammer and nail. You can use a salt shaker, an empty spice container or splurge at the dollar store and buy a parmesan cheese shaker for 0.99.
